About Joe Rangel

Growing up in the eastern suburbs of Cleveland Ohio, Joe Rangel was the member of an already very musical family. His father, Rey Rangel, along with his uncles, had always been very musical and toured in their younger years as β€œThe Rangel Brothers Band.” Joe started guitar lessons with his dad at age nine. As a teenager he began formal lessons with Cleveland guitarist Tom Ross. After graduating high school, Rangel studied at the Tri-C Metro campus with notable Cleveland figures such as Ernie Krivda and Dean Newton. After transferring to Cleveland State University, he graduated with a bachelors degree in music performance with an emphasis in jazz guitar under the tutelage of guitarist Bob Fraser.

Joe Rangel has since been a private music teacher for guitar, music theory, ukulele, and beginning piano. He has performed regionally and nationally with notable bands such as Hip To That, Simple Routes, and Bassel and the Supernaturals.

Currently, Joe Rangel can be found performing under his own name showcasing his original music, though he still enjoys working as a sideman in other projects. His musical influences come from Jazz, R&B, Dream-Pop, and Hip Hop.
